IFST Sponsors Teachers' Courses 29 Oct 2009

Twenty seven PGCE food technology teachers attended a food hygiene training day sponsored by IFST at the University of East London on 8th September. This was followed up with a taster day on 19th October at the London Food Centre at London South Bank University.

In the morning the trainee teachers participated an interactive session on food labelling and experienced some proprietary software that can be used with schoolchildren.

In the afternoon the teachers carried out a practical exercise to develop and prepare a new canned soup, followed by instruction in canning and commercial sterilisation.

All of the students passed with flyer colours.
