Food safety scheme attracts record numbers 20 Apr 2012

A record number of businesses have turned to the SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval scheme to gain a food safety certification recognised by leading national buyers.

SALSA Scheme Director Chris Grimes said “The success of SALSA during the first quarter of 2012 has surpassed even our own optimistic expectations. January to March has seen record numbers of new members joining the scheme and more existing members moving on to their certification audits than during any other period in SALSA’s five year history”.

SALSA is the nationally recognised food safety certification scheme specifically developed for small and micro producers. In addition to offering a robust, but accessible standard to members, the scheme offers extensive support to members during audit preparation. All SALSA auditors and mentors are approved and registered with IFST, via our Register of Professional Food Auditors and Mentors.
