UK Faculty of Public Health recommendations on manufactured fats 20 Jan 2010

A proposal by the UK Faculty of Public Health has made a number of recommendations designed to improve UK health over the next decade. The proposal includes concerns over trans fats, which have been found to be linked to coronary heart disease and increased cholesterol. Denmark and parts of the US and Canada have already banned trans fats. The Food Standards Agency and the World Health have recommended that trans fat consumption be kept to a minimum, with current recommendation being that trans fats should not provide more than 2% of a person's dietary energy intake.
