  • Network with other members through meetings and IFST electronic discussion groups
  • Exchange ideas and information with other members using the Member Finder facility on the Members' Area
  • Participation in our specialist professional groups for food microbiologists (PFMG) and food sensory scientists (PFSG)
  • Free membership of IFST Regional Branches
  • Free membership of any number of IFST Special Interest Groups
  • Add your weight to the collective voice of the profession, support IFST and increase our influence
  • Serve on one of IFST's committees or working groups and gain valuable volunteering and leadership experience
  • Demonstrate your responsibility to society through your commitment to IFST's professional code of conduct and ethics
  • Contribute to a particular area, e.g. as a technical expert help to develop an Information Statement, advise a journalist, or assist in writing an IFST Guide
  • Help to support schools and education by backing IFST's Schools Affiliation Scheme and careers information services, e.g. by giving a talk at your local school or encouraging or sponsoring your child's school to join the scheme
