Types of Membership
The Membership Committee has developed these Guidelines to assist applicants
when applying for membership.
The framework of regulations for entry to IFST membership is laid down in the Articles of Association and Bye-Laws , which provide for the governing body of the Institute, the Board of Trustees,
to set down the detailed procedures for the election of all members.
Click here for details of fees. Please also refer to Bye Law 12 which specifies members'
entitlement to benefits and the period covered by the newly elected member's
initial subscription.
Applicants for Fellow and Member
On receipt of your application, if you are a new applicant for Fellow and
Member, you will be temporarily admitted to Associate membership pending full
evaluation of your application.
In order to safeguard the standards of the Institute and the value of
membership, great care is taken in processing applications. Each application
for
Membership and Fellowship is first sent to a Membership Committee scrutineer
who
checks
it against requirements and makes a preliminary assessment. It is then
considered
at the next meeting of the Membership Committee. The Membership Committee will
normally meet on a quarterly basis. If the information provided is inadequate
or
if the references have not been received, then consideration of your
application
may have to be deferred. The Membership Committee may, at its discretion,
require an applicant to attend a professional interview.
