Continuing Professional Development
All members of IFST are required to recognise their responsibility to maintain
and enhance professional competence by continuing to update and improve their
knowledge and proficiency. IFST supports members' needs for CPD through its
publications, events and accreditation schemes. Our existing CPD materials are
currently being reviewed and new guidance is being developed.
The Food and Drink Federation and IFST have jointly published a CPD Guidance
Document to help food safety professionals maintain and enhance their
individual
professional competence. View the Guidance Document. A suggested template for recording CPD may be downloaded here.
IFST has joined forces with Marks and Spencer plc and the Food Standards Agency
to accredit the continuing professional development of their food scientists
and
technologists. Negotiations are continuing with a number of other employers to
accredit their schemes. Any company interested in IFST assistance with CPD
accreditation should contact team@ifst.org.
Campden BRI has been awarded approved provider status for IFST's CPD schemes.
Continuing professional development is an essential requirement for Chartered Scientists and registration as a Professional Food Auditor or Mentor.
