National Council of Women Questions

During 2003 the National Council of Women invited and collected consumers' questions about food from individuals and organisations, and published them in a booklet entitled "Deserving of Answers".  IFST undertook to provide brief answers to questions calling for scientific answers and we thank them for their kind agreement to our posting the questions and answers here.

Food science and technology is a rapidly advancing discipline and new information is emerging all the time. Since the answers to these questions were prepared some of the information contained in the document may have changed, in particular, aspects of food legislation.
