IFST Food Law Group event: 'Asking the right questions: theory and practice'

Registration is closed for this event
Organised by IFST Food Law Group

Organised by IFST Food Law Group

The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) has been working for a few years on its ‘Regulating Our Future’ project, looking first at the processes for food business registration and subsequent checks by enforcement agencies and now reviewing the processes for enforcing food standards. This event will provide an update on both areas of work by the FSA, with an overview of the progress and benefits of the new registration process and a summary of the ongoing work on food standards.

The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) is aiming for a sustainable approach to food safety regulation in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, encouraging businesses to change behaviours to benefit consumers. Between now and 2020, the FSA plans to implement and deliver a new regulatory model for food, known as their ‘Regulating Our Future’ project. This IFST Food Law Group event provides an update from two FSA speakers on the progress of Regulating Our Future, looking at the changes to processes for food business registration and subsequent checks by enforcement agencies, and the current review of the processes for enforcing food standards. Following these updates on the theory, the event also includes a presentation by Trading Standards on how the ‘Regulating Our Future’ changes are being put into practice ‘on the ground’, and what the impact might be on UK enforcement in the future.
