IFST's Northern Ireland branch have issued a response to the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment's (DETI) Consultation on draft Northern Ireland Innovation Strategy 2013-2025.
The draft Northern Ireland Innovation Strategy 2013-2025 sets outlines the vision that by 2025 Northern Ireland will be recognised as an innovation hub and one of the UK's leading high-growth, knowledge-based regions.
The strategy outlines two broad approaches fostering cultural change in creativity and innovation, and providing structure and support for knowledge generation, exchange and exploitation.
The response focuses on Northern Ireland's agri-food sector. Generally, the Northern Ireland branch welcomes the innovation strategy, with a few recommendations. They encourage that appropriate emphasis on "Going for Growth", an action plan in support of the Northern Ireland agri-food sector, is included in the final innovation strategy.
