We are launching the first of what we hope will become an annual education and careers forum, in 2018 to be held at Food Matters Live in November. Just like our policy forum that we held in 2015, we envisage this will play a key role in shaping future IFST education and careers activities for the benefit of the sector. Our audience can expect to receive an update on recent education and careers developments as they affect the sector, have the opportunity to discuss the implications of these developments with other sector professionals, and help us shape our education and careers ambitions.
In this first forum we aim to explore the challenges posed by:
i. T-levels – what are T-levels, what does their introduction mean for students and employers?
ii. Graduate competences and careers - what are competences for food graduate careers?
iii. Apprenticeships – what food-related apprenticeships are available, are they meeting the needs of apprentices/employers/providers?
iv. Sector skills – what are the skills priorities identified by the Food Sector Council?
Our invited audience will include food sector recruiters (technical and HR), training providers and universities, and school-level bodies.
Speakers include NSAFD, 2Sisters, University of Nottingham, Food Sector Council
