IFST members make up a network over 2,500 industry professionals united by a passion for food science and technology, a thirst for knowledge, a high standard of professionalism, and a desire to advance the sector.
Types of membership
We have three categories of membership: Associate, Members and Fellow. All members are bound by an ethical code of professional conduct.
Available to those with an interest in food science and technology, aspiring professionals in the early years of their career, or students studying food science and technology. We offer concessionary rates for students and those in the first three years after graduation.
Members (MIFST) and Fellows (FIFST) must meet certain standards of achievement based on a combination of academic qualifications and knowledge gained through relevant experience. Fellows must also be able to demonstrate a high level of achievement and exceptional professionalism in relation to food. If you are interested in Membership or Fellowship or professional registration, please indicate when applying and we will contact you to guide you through the process. If you are a new applicant for Fellow and Member, you will be temporarily admitted to Associate membership pending full evaluation of your application.
