Ecotrophelia is an EU-wide Dragons' Den-style competition challenging student teams to develop the best eco-innovative food product.
The UK competition is organised jointly by IFST and Campden BRI and is open to teams of students from UK universities. Teams pitch to our "dragons" for a share of a prize fund worth over £3500 and a year of free IFST membership. The winners of the UK competition have an opportunity to compete in the European competition.
A competition in which undergraduate/master’s students to present their current/recently completed food-related project in front of an audience and a panel of food professionals
The focus of the competition is judging how students can communicate their research in a clear and engaging way. Students have 5 minutes to present their research followed by 5 minutes of questions from our panel. Judging is based on scientific rigor, originality, innovation, industrial applications and effective communication skills. Winners receive a cash prize.
Are you a bright and enthusiastic PhD student working in a food-related area? Do you have an interest in communicating scientific research? Would you like the opportunity to work within parliament?
Gain a unique insight into the inner workings of the Parliamentary Offices of Science and Technology (POST) as part of a three-month placement. You will gain experience working in the Commons or Lords researching and writing briefing material for MPs and Peers on a scientific subject, usually in the form of one of POST’s well-known POSTnotes.
