Since 2009 Lauren has enjoyed helping various companies in many different ways including setting up new panels, reviewing their sensory facilities and providing interim cover. Lauren joined the SSG for professional recognition, to keep up-to-date and to enable her to give something back.

Jane Clark CSci, RSensSci, MIFST

Jane has been involved in sensory science for 25 years and has worked both client and agency-side.  She has been a member of SSG since its start, enjoying the networking occasions, and the opportunity to promote and develop sensory science.

Dr Sarah Kemp CSci, RSensSci, FIFST

Dr Sarah Kemp Consulting

Sarah has more than 30 years of global sensory and consumer research experience in multinational FMCG companies and agencies. She is a founder member and past Chair of SSG and feels that participating in the SSG allows her to give something back by helping to shape the future of sensory science and to raise its profile and professional standing, whilst benefiting from networking and learning opportunities.

Dr Jean McEwan CStat, RSensSci, FIFST

Consultant, Jean A McEwan Consulting Ltd.

Jean has over 30 years’ experience in sensory and consumer sciences, and sensometrics.  She joined the SSG in 2011 to network with members and be part of the E3S.  She is also actively involved with the Sensometric Society, Society of Sensory Professionals and ASTM, and is a reviewer for a number of sensory-related journals.

Professor Lisa Methven FIFST

Professor of Food & Sensory Science at Reading University

Lisa’s teaching includes modules incorporating IFST Certificate of Accreditation for Sensory Training (Foundation & Intermediate level), as well as consumer behaviour to food. She feels the SSG is important in enabling colleagues in sensory & consumer science, throughout UK industry and academia, to keep in contact and share ideas.

Dr Isabella Nyambayo MIFST

Assistant Professor of Food, Nutrition & Sensory Science at Coventry University

Isabella teaches undergraduate modules covering NPD, sensory science, and food consumption behaviour.  She also collaboratively supervises post-grad projects on sensory science and genetic predisposition to food consumption behaviour. She enjoys SSG and SSG-IFST conferences where she keeps up-to-date with sensory developments and meets up with both UK and international sensory professionals from industry and academia.

Dr Victoria Whelan MIFST 

Sensory Scientist at British American Tobacco (BAT)

Vicky is the sensory expert sitting on BAT’s Human Research Committee which considers the ethics of sensory & consumer research. Her PhD at Nottingham University explored the sensory properties of chocolate in different matrices. Vicky joined the SSG to network, keep up-to-date and make the most of knowledge-sharing opportunities.
