Parliament for PhD students – how to engage with UK Parliament
Organised by Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology
Join this focused, practical webinar to explore how to engage with the UK Parliament from the start of your research career.
About this Event
This training webinar gives an overview of the UK Parliament and then covers ways to work with the institution including details on Select Committees, the House of Commons and House of Lords libraries, and POST. It also explores working with individual Parliamentarians.
It is delivered by the UK Parliament's Knowledge Exchange Unit. The webinar is centred on practical information and advice, with plenty of opportunity for Q&A.
We know how busy you are as a PhD student, and how daunting it can seem to engage with policy; we'll be focused on what parliamentary engagement you could do with your limited time, and how to be confident in your own expertise.
As a result of the webinar you will:
•Understand Parliament’s role and work, and the difference between Parliament and Government
•Learn how research is used in the UK Parliament
•Be able to identify and take up opportunities to feed your research into Parliament’s work
•Be aware of where to go for further support
