It is our pleasure to invite you to attend our IFST Lecture reception hosted by Northern Ireland Branch will take place on Tuesday 2 July 2019 at Moy Park Technical Centre, Unit 49 Seagoe Industrial Estate, Portadown, Craigavon, BT63 5QE.
The IFST Lecture is always one of the highlights of our year. The event will be hosted in London, but the Northern Ireland branch will be streaming the lecture live at a satellite reception.
Our special guest speaker will be Professor Mike Gibney, University College Dublin and his talk will cover ‘Ultra-processed foods: The science and the policy’.
As Professor of Food and Health at University College Dublin (UCD) and Director of the UCD Institute of Food and Health, Mike Gibney is one of Europe's leading authorities on human nutrition. Before taking up this position he was Professor of Human Nutrition in the Department of Clinical Medicine at Trinity College Dublin and he is a past President of the Nutrition Society.
With more than 350 peer reviewed papers under his belt, Mike has unsparingly shared his expertise in this field over many years during which time he has served on several high-level international advisory committees with bodies such as the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation and the World Health Organisation. His research portfolio extends across public health nutrition and molecular nutrition and he has served as Principal Investigator on several large EU-funded projects in the area of personalised nutrition.
Mike's published work includes ‘Nutrition, Diet and Health’, ‘Something to Chew On: Challenging Controversies in Food and Health’ and ‘Ever seen a fat fox: human obesity explored’.
Northern Ireland Branch Reception
Whilst the main lecture is being held in London at the Royal Society of Medicine, we are delighted to inform you that the Northern Ireland Branch will be hosting a live streaming at Moy Park Technical Centre, Unit 49 Seagoe Industrial Estate, Portadown, Craigavon, BT63 5QE.
Registration will begin at 18:00, with the lecture at 18:30. The evening will end with reception drinks.
