Kelvin Thomson

Kelvin is the Volunteer of the Week for helping to generate discussion on our LinkedIn groups, retweeing, being a preliminary judge for Ecotrophelia and organising an event in Glasgow to broadcast the IFST lecture on 11 November.

How does it feel to be recognised as Volunteer of the Week?

It's always nice to get some recognition for the things you do and I think that during the IFST's Jubilee year it's a great way of encouraging members to play a role in its success!

Why is it important to be a member of a body like IFST?

I thinks it is important to be a member of IFST as it provides a great platform to share, discuss and learn about the key issues and developments in the industry! Its a good way of meeting and networking with other practising professionals via events, meetings etc!

You are an active member of the Scotland Branch, tell us a little more.

As a Branch, we try to raise the profile of the IFST and the role that Science & Technology play in the vibrant Scottish Food & Drink sector. Being self employed, its also a good opportunity to work with like minded individuals! The forthcoming IFST Jubilee Lecture in November is currently the key focus of the Branch.

How do you keep up to date with the latest Food Science and Technology news?

I keep up to date with FS&T news and developments through the IFST website, E-newsletters and increasingly through social media like LinkedIn and Twitter!

Tell us something that not many people know.

I share the same birthday as my Son!
