Science Communication Competition

Are you passionate about the biggest challenges we face? Want the opportunity to communicate your passion for science to the wider community? Got a flair for science writing? Then this is the competition for you!

The ability to inspire interest and engagement in people external to the science community is a useful and lifelong skill. It is important to encourage the next generation of scientists to progress into their professional careers while raising awareness of science in the wider community.

This inaugural Science Communication Competition provides you with the opportunity to write about a topical issue that the food industry is currently facing, whilst concisely demonstrating and developing your skills for science communication to the broader community.

This year we are asking you to communicate your knowledge and passion in 500 words or less, in an engaging scientific article.

2022 Question:

Innovations that drive the food industry towards Net Zero: What ingredient/ packaging/ technology/ app/ machinery is helping drive the industry towards our Net Zero Goal?

Choose one ingredient/ packaging/ technology/ app/ machinery and elaborate on this in your article.

This competition is now open, please submit your article by Sunday 7 August 2022, 11:59. Please note this competition is only open to students studying at a UK university or an IFST accredited course
