IFST degree accreditation recognises BSc and MSc programmes that meet agreed professional standards for food-related education. The scheme supports universities, HE colleges and the needs of the food sector.
Food-related degrees are multidisciplinary and draw on subjects such as chemistry, biology, microbiology, nutrition, business and engineering. This knowledge supports understanding of food systems from production through to the consumer.
The scheme is open to UK and international courses taught in English.
What are the benefits of accreditation?
Accreditation provides a benchmark of quality and confirms that a course delivers strong food-related education. It helps students develop knowledge and skills relevant to careers in industry, research, education and the public sector.
Accreditation is a recognised quality mark. It helps accredited degrees stand out to potential students, their families and employers and so may enhance both student recruitment and graduate employability.
