EFSA has launched an open consultation for the guidance on the use of the Threshold of Toxicological Concern (TTC) approach in food safety assessment.
This guidance is meant for EFSA Panels/Units for the use of the TTC approach as a screening and prioritization tool for the safety assessment of chemicals, when hazard data are incomplete and human exposure can be estimated as low. The TTC approach should not be used for substances for which EU legislation requires the submission of toxicity data or when data are available that allow risk assessment.
The closing date for submission of comments is 8 January 2019.
