Norovirus - Advice from PHE

Public Health England (PHE) is reminding the public about the importance of practising good hand hygiene, staying away from places like hospitals and care homes and avoiding preparing food when ill in order to prevent norovirus.

Norovirus causing gastroenteritis originates from the human intestine and can spread rapidly in public places. It can be caught through contact with sewage, sewage sludge or polluted water typically during primary production; touching contaminated surfaces; or eating contaminated food that has been handled by an infected food handler. Its symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain.
