Stephanie Mitchell

Stephanie Mitchell was nominated for Volunteer of the Week for helping out with Registered Scientist revalidation. She is actively involved in the Membership Assessment Panel and has been helping out a great deal with the different types of assessment across IFST membership.

How does it feel to be recognised as Volunteer of the Week?

It was a nice surprise, I feel quite honoured.

You have been IFST assessor for a year now. What do you like about your role as an assessor?

I find it fascinating to read about other people’s careers and their achievements.

You are involved with IFST group of Sensory Scientists who are going to launch a new register of Professional Sensory Scientist (RSensSci) soon. Why do you think this new recognition is important?

I think that the new register will enable sensory scientists to gain the professional recognition that they deserve.  Hopefully more people will understand what sensory analysis entails

Why it is important to be involved with a member organisation like IFST?

It’s important as it enables us to network with other professionals as well as keeping up to date with the latest developments in our field.

Tell us something that few people know.

I have the Level 4 Food Hygiene qualification and have also qualified as an electrician!  I have also trekked to 14000 feet in the Andes on the Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu and done the London to Brighton cycle ride.
