Technical Visit to Wilkin & Sons jam factory and fruit farm

This event is now fully booked.

Please contact us here if you would like to be added to the waiting list.

Organised by IFST Eastern Branch

The visit typically starts with a walk through the production areas from fruit preparation to packing and is followed, weather permitting, by a tour of the adjacent fruit fields where produce is often available to taste directly from the plant!

Our host Robert Parker, Head of Technical, has spent more than 40 years in making jams and honeys. His knowledge of the entire process from fruit growing through processing to packing provides a great background against which he and members of his team literally walk the visitor through the factory and the adjacent farm to give a privileged insight to the modern manufacture of jams and preserves in a building steeped in history.

Who should attend? Anyone interested in the production of jams, preserves, honeys and marmalades. The visit will appeal to food professionals working in industry, quality control, regulatory, consultancy and academia.

Cost: This is a FREE event for IFST members.

Deadline for registrations: 5pm, Thursday 13 June 2019

Important Information: Sensible footwear is recommended as underfoot can be wet in the factory and around the fruit farm we shall be walking directly on soil, weather permitting.
