Parliament for Knowledge Mobilisers – support engagement with UK Parliament
Organised by Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology
Join this focused, practical webinar to explore ways to build and support your institution's engagement with UK Parliament.
About this Event
This training webinar is aimed at knowledge mobilisers, i.e. people whose role is focused on sharing research from their institution with other sectors (examples could include people working in research impact, public engagement, policy engagement, knowledge exchange, communications, research development, academic libraries etc).
It gives an overview of the UK Parliament and briefly covers ways for researchers to work with the institution including details on Select Committees, the House of Commons and House of Lords libraries, POST and working with individual Parliamentarians.
It then explores ideas around supporting researchers at your institution to engage with the UK Parliament, including potential incentives for academics, and outlines what support is available for knowledge mobilisers from the UK Parliament's Knowledge Exchange Unit.
It is delivered by the UK Parliament's Knowledge Exchange Unit. The webinar is focused on practical information and advice, with plenty of opportunity for Q&A.
As a result of the webinar you will:
•Understand Parliament’s role and work, and the difference between Parliament and Government
•Learn how research is used in the UK Parliament
•Be able to identify and take up opportunities for your institution's research/researchers to feed into Parliament’s work
•Know how to access support from Parliament's Knowledge Exchange Unit, and join Parliament's knowledge mobilisers network
