Defra launches a consultation on amending food labelling laws

Defra has launched a public consultation on the required changes to food labels in the event that the UK leaves the EU in a ‘no deal’ scenario. These will ensure that current provisions in law can continue to work after the UK has left the EU.

The government is particularly interested in hearing views on what period of adjustment should be allowed before all food marketed in the UK must have a UK name and address on the label.

The closing date for submissions is 4 December 2018.
