IFST COVID-19 Continuity

IFST Activities During COVID-19 Emergency

IFST continue to actively engage with our members and wider stakeholders in these unique times. Whilst we have cancelled face-to-face meetings, our events have gone on-line, and our communities and special interest groups continue to meet through video conferencing.

The IFST team are working remotely to continue to support you. So please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have at info@ifst.org.

We have set up a COVID-19 Advisory Group to populate our COVID-19 Knowledge Hub with scientifically robust and practical guidance. They are working closely with our Scientific Committee, Special Interest Groups and wider membership. As a key part of our external engagement, we have been invited to join the FSA Expert Panel on COVID-19 and are providing regular updates to DEFRA.

IFST Event updates

As you have come to expect from IFST, we will be pushing the boundaries to bring you the very latest scientific thinking – but we also recognise the importance of bringing you real-life, practical solutions and examples. Our SC20 Webinar Series, together with the SIG webinars, will not only provide you with plenty of opportunities to add to your Continuing Professional Development, it will also give you inspiration and solutions to apply in your work. https://www.ifst.org/events

Publications

Given the obstacles arising from COVID-19, as well as desire to reduce pressure on supply-chain vendors to send their employees to work and increase their risk of exposure to the virus, Wiley (our magazine and journal publisher) has made the decision to suspend all printing and distribution of journal issues and books until further notice. Many of our members have access to society publications via Wiley Online Library already. We will be working closely with our colleagues at Wiley to help members who rely on print copies to access the journal digitally.

Membership

We recognise that COVID-19 is having different effects on different members; some are extremely busy, with no time to renew their membership or submit continuing professional development, while others may find their income affected and have difficulty paying their subscription fee(s).  If you are affected by COVID-19 in one of these ways, please drop us a line briefly explaining your circumstances so we can explore ways of supporting you to continue your membership and/or professional registration. Please contact us at mem@ifst.org.
